CO2 SAVING
When people are dependent on polluted water, they will boil it before use, often on an open fire, especially in remote areas. By making clean drinking water available, this is no longer necessary and therefore much less wood or coal is burned, which saves a lot of CO2 emissions and harmful smoke.
PLASTIC
Our water projects also save a lot of plastic in developing countries. This is because people without access to safe drinking water often buy water in plastic bags or disposable bottles, especially in urban areas.
In many cases, this plastic ends up on the streets and in rivers after use, eventually becoming part of the plastic soup. A water supply in a slum ensures that people start working with jerry cans and no longer have to throw plastic.
SAVING TREES
A tree needs to grow for a year to capture 20kg. According to Made Blue’s calculation, 1,000 liters of water captures 7kg of CO. With that, you could say that it also preserves 1/3 of a tree.
But not in all cases is wood (coal) used as fuel for boiling water: this can also be biomass or another (carbon) fuel. That is why we calculate with a factor of 50%.
With that, 1,000 liters of water is up to 0.15 trees preserved.

Hi! We are The Good Wine, the makers of 100% organic & vegan wine! Our mission: to make the world a better place! How? By supplying 750 liters of clean drinking water to communities in Africa for every bottle of wine sold. Will you join us? Drink Wine4Water!
Wine4Water, that’s how The Good Wine started.
Access to drinking water is the basis for a healthy and productive existence! It has even been a human right since 2010, but for 771,000,000 people it is a daily task to get safe water. That’s 1 in 10 people on earth.
Heavy numbers if you ask us! That’s why we started this new initiative to contribute to solving this problem! Supplying clean drinking water in areas where it is badly needed, in combination with producing a tasty wine, which is our passion, is the perfect opportunity to contribute to a better world!
Together with our partner Made Blue Foundation, we are currently making an impact in Uganda, in the Fort Portal region.
There we provide schools and neighborhoods with clean drinking water. In addition to installing new water supplies, this project also pays a lot of attention to education about good hygiene and safe use of water.
A large project with a lot of impact. With this project we reach 35,100 people, but specifically also 15,300 girls in 20 schools. By building safe toilets, sinks and changing rooms we hope that the absenteeism rate of girls at school will decrease by 50% in the next 2.5 years!
